The NSRC is proud to present this month’s Respiratory Showcase, Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center-Cardiopulmonary Department.
Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in downtown Beatrice, a community of about 13,000, in the heart of Gage County, about 30 miles north of the Kansas line and about 40 miles south of Lincoln, NE.
With a nearly 100-year tradition of being a leading provider of healthcare in Southeast Nebraska, BCHHC continues to serve as a full-service hospital with a four-doctor hospitalist team, a 24-hour physician staffed emergency room, a sleep lab, a full range of diagnostic services and a busy rehabilitation department, plus surgery, labor and delivery and more.
The Cardiopulmonary Department at Beatrice Community Hospital consists of Respiratory Care, Cardiology, Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Function Testing, Vascular Ultrasound and EEG. The Cardiopulmonary has 9 full-time staff, 2 part time, 3 prn, 1 contract staff, and clerical staff.
Beatrice Community Hospital has 24/7 in-house Respiratory care coverage. Respiratory Care’s responsibilities include routine floor work, ED coverage, pulmonary function testing, ABG’s, EKG’s, Holter monitors, stress tests, BiPAP, ventilator management as needed and we also provide DME set up and education.
Respiratory Therapists are also members of the Rapid Response Team, Code team, and we also stand by for all deliveries.
The Cardiopulmonary Department has a sleep lab with consists of 2 full-time respiratory therapists one of which is also an RPSGT. The sleep lab is a two bed lab which operates 4 nights per week.
Beatrice Community Hospital also has two Respiratory Therapists that are also trained in cardiac ultrasound.
